Kippenbrock opts for HanoverApril 29, 2013
Heritage Hills High School senior Derek Kippenbrock didn’t have to compromise with his college choice. He’ll have the opportunity to both play baseball and study archeology at Hanover College, the school he opted for instead of Wabash College. Hanover will help with Kippenbrock’s tuition, as well as offer a hometown vibe.
“Hanover has got the same kind of feel as we do around here,” Kippenbrock said. “It’s a small town and it’s right on the (Ohio) River, it’s really a beautiful campus. I went there for my academics really, playing baseball is just a plus.”
Hanover coaches told Kippenbrock every pitcher is given an opportunity to play during the season, and Kippenbrock also anticipates playing shortstop for the Panthers. He also plans on studying abroad at some point, possibly in Greece or Italy.
Kippenbrock is the son of Mark and Karen Kippenbrock of Dale.
