Fire department receives donation

From local sources

CELESTINE — The Celestine Volunteer Fire Department recently received a donation that will help firefighters acquire a new truck.

Fire Chief Chris Hasenour said the department received $7,500 from TransCanada, a gas pipeline company that operates several natural gas pipelines in North America including one that runs through Celestine. Hasenour said the department will use the money toward replacing a 1994 pumper truck with a new truck expected to cost about $270,000.

The 23-member fire department in Celestine has five trucks and covers a 40-square-mile area.
