The Dubois County Democrats held a caucus Tuesday to select Mark Schmitt to fill an open seat on their ballot for the Madison Township Advisory Board.
Schmitt, 50, lives in rural Velpen and is a full-time farmer. He and his wife, Carla (Stenftenagel), have three children: Samantha, Jaclyn and Ali.
Schmitt joins Pat Lichlyter and Alan Small on the Democratic ticket. Republican Glen Englert is also running, hoping to fill one of the three seats on the board.
Political parties can fill open seats on their ticket until June 30
