The Jasper volleyball team knew a rally from two sets down could be accomplished. Still, when the comeback was complete — with a manic overtime fifth set, to boot, in Evansville Memorial’s toasty gym that grew hotter each set — all of it was almost too flabbergasting to believe.
With the chance to qualify for the biggest cross country meet of the year, the Jasper girls delivered one of their best races of the season, while a Heritage Hills veteran barely remembers it happening and a Patriot freshman continued his impressive debut season.
Thursday's Class 3A volleyball sectional at Vincennes Lincoln was a reunion of sorts for players from Jasper, Southridge and Heritage Hills. Playing against teammates from their club squads not only gives players a scouting report but some extra motivation as well.
