Canadian couple dies in I-80/94 crash in NW Ind.

PORTAGE — Indiana State Police say a Canadian couple has died after their car careened airborne off Interstates 80/94 in northwestern Indiana and plummeted about 30 feet onto a road below.

The say the crash discovered Saturday morning killed 62-year-old Isaac Acheampong and his 53-year-old wife, Cecelia, of Ontario. Police did not say where in Ontario they were from.

Police say Isaac Acheampong was driving a 2014 Toyota Matrix westbound on the interstate about 10 miles east of Gary when his car veered off the right side, hit an earthen embankment and went airborne, landing on another road below.

The two were pronounced dead at the scene.
