434 pounds of prescription drugs collected

From local sources

Saturday was National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. In Dubois County, unused, unwanted and expired prescription drugs were collected at the Indiana State Police Post in Jasper and at the fire stations in Haysville and St. Henry.

A total of 674 people dropped off 434 pounds of pharmaceuticals. Twenty-two percent of participants dropped off drugs for the first time.

Since the semiannual event began locally in 2002, several thousand pounds of drugs have been collected. Last September’s event saw a record amount, 507 pounds of drugs, collected from 388 people.
